 Smith's statements
« Thread Started on Sept 13, 2009, 11:45am »

I was going through by PC and found few smith's quotes he said:

“I had a few extra butterflies when I was walking down the tunnel, but I also had a big smile on my face too! Sometimes when you’ve been out it’s difficult to get into the flow of games, but the lads told me to just go for it. I wear my heart on my sleeve and I want to show that to everyone.”
“I still have eight metal plates in my leg, so it doesn’t half set the alarms off when I go through airport security!”
“The amount of letters and support I got from United fans and supporters from everywhere, including Leeds, was unbelievable. It was overwhelming and makes you realise why you’re involved in the game and how much people do appreciate you. No one can ever take that away.”
“I have sacrificed myself for every club I have been at, playing out for position.”
“It’s an experience that has brought out qualities in me that even I didn’t know I had.”
“It’s frightening to think back at how serious the injury was – it really was career threatening. I was told the best I could hope for was that it would be between 18 months and 2 years before I would be anywhere near fit enough to play again.”
“I’ve always been the kind of person who tries to take a positive aspect from every negative experience and it was a case of either hiding away and feeling sorry for myself or coming out fighting.”
“I don’t want to be on loan somewhere else and miss the games coming up when I feel I can be an important part of this squad.”
“I feel I am good enough to play in this team, I have always believed that. That is why I signed.”
“I know I’m good enough to play for Manchester United or any other team in the Premiership and I will prove that to anyone who doubts it.”
“There has been a lot of speculation recently over my future but that’s never been in doubt between me and the club. I’m proud to play for this football club and hopefully my performances will show that.”
“But looking back now I can honestly say it wasn’t the worst period of my life. In a strange way, it has been good for me.”
“I spend a lot of time with my family, my nieces and nephews. Kids mean the world to me. Hopefully, one day, I’ll have a large family of my own and settle down right here in Leeds. That would be great.”
“I thank the fans for the reception they gave me, it was incredible.”
“The pressure won’t bother me, I’m looking forward to it. Everyone knows what the atmosphere is like at Old Trafford and how the fans are. To be successful there would be unbelievable.”
“When I looked down, the leg was lying one way and my ankle was pointing towards Hong Kong so I knew I was in serious trouble.”
“I am an honest player and the interest from others comes because they know what they are going to get from me all of the time.”
“It was time to move on from Manchester United. It was a bit of a roller-coaster: we got to two cup finals, won the Premiership and I broke my leg and dislocated my ankle.”

Thats what i love about him. He is such a composed man, and even when everything is going bad he still knows exactly what to say and how to be positive.
And he even tries to be funny when his ankle is pointing towards hong kong! ;)
